About Lightning Bug Vista

A 2021 cabin in the Smokies, run by a Tennessee company and looked after by a local team.

Who runs the cabin

Lightning Bug Vista is operated by Lightning Bug Vista Rentals LLC, a Tennessee company. Day to day, it's looked after by GSM Property Solutions, the local property management team, so questions before and during your stay go to people nearby.

The name

Lightning bugs are what most East Tennesseans call fireflies, a fixture of summer evenings in these hills. The Smokies are also home to one of the few firefly species in North America that flash in unison: the synchronous fireflies of Elkmont, which light up the woods each year in late May and June.

Vista is for the view: a seasonal mountain view through the trees that opens up when the leaves come down.

The logo puts it all together: the cabin, two chairs around the fire pit, and fireflies in the dark.
